Put Longan, dates and fragrant solomonseal to a pot (I use clay pot on wood fire) of 4 litres of water at room temperature. Then put the pot onto the wood fire.
Wash and then boil cashew nuts, peanuts, Chinese yam, lotus seeds, lily bulbs, fox nut barley and barley for about 5 minutes to remove any bad smell or preservatives.
Then wash again on running water for about a minute.
Drain and set aside.
