Braised spareribs with chestnuts
Chestnut braised ribs is a home-cooked dish in autumn and winter. It perfectly combines the sweetness of chestnuts with the meaty flavor of ribs. This dish is tempting in color and rich in taste. It is a traditional delicacy that is loved by families.
Ingredients
- 350 gram Ribs

- 150 gram chestnut

- 5 Shallots

- 4 piece Onion (chopped)

- 1 Garlic (cut into large pieces)

Steps
- Marinate the ribs with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of chestnut powder, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, a little five-spice powder and 1 tablespoon of oil for 15 minutes.

- Bring water to a boil and blanch the chestnuts for three minutes.

- After three minutes, take out the chestnuts and let them cool down, but peel them while they are still hot.

- Heat oil in a wok, add spareribs and fry until both sides are golden brown, then serve.

- Add some oil to the wok and sauté shallots, garlic and scallions.

- Add the ribs back and stir-fry.

- After stir-frying evenly, add half a tablespoon of cooking wine to enhance the aroma.

- Add chestnuts and stir-fry.

- Then pour in clean water until the food is just covered.

- Add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce and 1 teaspoon of sugar.

- Cover the wok and simmer over medium-low heat for ten minutes.

- Remove the lid of the wok and taste it. If the taste is not strong enough, add more salt or soy sauce. You can also add some dark soy sauce to enhance the color of the food.

- Add scallions for garnish and you’re done.
